Jared Leto is a busy man, very, very busy. So it is not so strange that we didn’t have the chance to talk to the singer of 30 Seconds to Mars for a while, but at Pinkpop Jared had the time to talk to Hitkrant. Like, Like!

It’s a sunny day this last day of Pinkpop. Backstage the boys of All Time Low just walked of the stage after performing, Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl talks with other artists. Hitkrant is sitting and waiting in the sun in front of Jared Leto’s dressing room, until the singer of 30 Seconds to Mars is ready. The door of the dressing room from the band opens and Jared the man with the most beautiful blue eyes in this entire world sits there happy waiting for us. It’s our turn!
What is your coolest festival memory? I don’t say this because we’re at Pinkpop, but that’s our performance in 2007 at Pinkpop. We were the first band that day and is was really fun. Of course we didn’t like getting up at 8.00 a.m. but it was fantastic. Seriously we talk a lot about this performance, because it exceeded all our expectations. We were afraid that nobody would show up because it was early and it was raining, but when we got on stage the whole field was crowded with people.
You have just said that you don’t like to get out of bed early, is that the thing you hate the most while your touring? Ah well 8.00 a.m. is not that early in the morning, but we often go late to our bed and yes sometimes it can be annoying. But we are now 20 months on the road and the most difficult thing for me is to take good care of my health.
How are you doing that? Believe it or not, but this morning I went running for over an hour here over the Pinkpop area. Unfortunately this is not with each festival possible because there is not always enough space to go for a run. So although there is not always a possibility I do my best to keep healthy.
What is nice about living in a band? Everything else we experience. It is June and we already have had a great year, mostly because of the really nice weather we had, in wintertime I don’t like touring that much actually it’s awful… Oh I remember something that is also difficult: it’s difficult to keep my voice optimal! I need to keep paying a lot of attention to that and stop talking.
So you have to shut your mouth now and stop talking.
Yes I think so… I didn’t realize it until now that I sound pretty awful, Listen (Jared clears his throat and starts coughing) Doesn’t it sounds like I have a frog in my throat? Is it really me who is talking right...
